Tuesday Night Scores

Southgate 64 Riverview 54

SMCC 61 Blissfield 38

Milan 70 Dundee 40

Jefferson 59 Erie Mason 46

  1. Milan 70 Dundee 40
Dundees best player 6'7" CJ Wolfenbarger did not dress for the game but I doubt that would have changed the outcome. Milan was too fast for the Vikings and Duffin, Luvene, and Turnage could beat their defender whenever they wanted. Dundees guards were shaky and they couldnt handle the athleticism of the Big Reds. Game could have been a lot worse, Milans coach called off the dogs and started subbing in the 3rd quarter. They could have scored 100 if they kept their press on the entire game. Solid win for a Huron league team beating a 16-1 and state ranked Dundee team

  8. Just so you know Whiteford lost tonight to Sand Creek 74-72. Dupree did have 31 pts though.

  9. Sorry Whiteford isnt the best team, they play in a league of nobody's, so u cant say Dupree or Cogan from summerfield are the best players either, anyone can score in a league of more or les JV teams, Huron is the best team, with the best scorer (Scarton for player), and its a game of matchups, Dundee with Wolfenbarger would give Huron a game, not win, but it would be close

  10. Riverview came out flat and they were down early 35-13, they played better in the second half and only lost 64-54

  12. We all love are schools and are teams. And we play around on this blog talking them up in good fun.But i hope everyone in the huron league can be honest for the good of the league.I will start with kalby he is old school BB just like the coach that retired from smcc last year. There the last of there kind. They hate stats to start and everything they teach from day one is team work and def.Kalbys faithful to his team does not care about makeing buddies. He's loves his kids and they love him he's there best friend at school and after school. They come to him for help when they need it and they look at him as a grand father part of there family. When you see him in the gym you may think he's a horrible guy but you need to see him with the kids after and at school. Two or three of the kids on that team would not be in school if it wasn,t for kalby He is a gental giant. He won,t be coaching to much longer and we will be loseing a great coach in michigan. In the old days coaches stayed put kids stayed at there schools where they lived. And kids looked at there coaches as more then just a coach thats kalby. The coach from riverview did a great job but we all no what kalby has done this year was unbeleaveale.I don't no how grown men can play games like they did in the voteing this year. All the kids in the huron league did a great job and played with there hearts and the huron league should be proud. But the BB coaches in the Huron league shuold be, well not sleeping to good and if they are they need to get out of coaching. And as far as MVP scarton is a great BB player we all no that and so is richardson. But richardson led his team to a league championship. And when it came to close games even though he has some good players on his team he was the guy who went out there on all those close games and took charge and won them. What everyone should want is the right people to get the right awards.I like scarton alot he won mvp last year his team finished near the top.But this year Richardson was mvp sorry. Kalby is a grown man and he will be fine. But what thoses coaches did to richardson is wrong. The team that wins the league gets coty and the team that wins the league, in less it's close gets mvp.I hope we can take are team hates off for a second and see how wrong this was and make sure it never happens again.

  13. "Two or three of the kids on that team would not be in school if it wasn,t for kalby" March 3, 2010 11:21 AM Nice school Huron, way to put Academics first.

  14. Say Brainiac, his point was that these kids who may struggle in school and are at risk are taken under Kalby's wing. He then gives guidance and confidence while stressing the importance of staying in school and doing well in school.

So I will say it again the way you did. Nice school Huron, way to put academics first.

  15. Don't lump all the coaches together. You don't have any idea who those coaches voted for. I'm sure it wasn't scarton 7 rich 1. Maybe chris can find out by talking to a couple.

  16. Ummm this was a post about Tuesdays scores so all you Huron people get out of it... Most people clicked on reading these comments so we didnt have to hear about Huron

  18. Classic Kabby in the News Herald-

"I'm not one to complain about officials, but we had three kids foul out," he said. "Everyone was in foul trouble. The officials didn't do a good job....."

Twice now he PUBLICLY complains about officiating when Huron was in jeopardy of losing. Just like JJ previously, I didn't see any quotes from Bogataj that the officiating was bad. AND BOTH OF THEIR TEAMS LOST!

Once again classless versus classy. God forbid Cry-kabby give the opponent some credit for playing them tough. God forbid Cry-kabby doesn't take responsibility and instill accountability in his own players.

How bout this Cry-kabby - tell your players to stop fouling?

If those kids werent playing basketball and helping him win games would he still be taking them under his wing?

  20. Glad to see all the comments praising Kalby get posted while the criticisms don't....great blog....you don't seem to follow the rules you published for posting do you?

  21. Wow, Buddy I just sat down at my computer 10 minutes ago. Give me a chance to post this stuff? I have to read through 27 posts. Most are rubbish that contain profanity. I go through the post from top to bottom. That means from the most recent on back. Why do I do it that way? It's easier to do it that way with my browser. Sorry, I don't sit by a computer all day. The post add up over the course of a day.

  25. Kalby is a good coach, i play at a school in the huron league (NOT HURON), and i would absolutely LOVE to play with Richardson, Stockert, and Tavtigan, and i would love even more the fact that Kalby would be my coach, im not gonna say my school on here, because then i would be RIPPED if anyone found out, think about it, 40-2 will be their record tomorrow night in the past 2 years, THINK ABOUT IT

  26. First of all, Chris you do a great job and if these people can not handle this then they should stop reading it!! Plain and simple.
Also, to all Huron bashers, your jealousy shows. I find it hilarious that you try to put us down all the time, to me it just shows how much you wish you were a part of our school. I also take it as a compliment because our kids are just that good and so is coach.
As a Huron educator, I know that acedemics are first. I am proud to say those kids work hard in and out of school as I am sure all the teams players do.
So stop being so jealous and start giving the respect these kids deserve.
Keep up the good work Chris and do not let these people who live for this blog get to you!!

  27. Uhm its the Huron League blog. Its for everyone, even Huron fans. Don't like it? Don't come to it..

As for the people who want to talk Kalby down? Unless you know him personally and know him enough to say things? Then don't comment. You make yourself look dumb. Kalby is a great coach and a great guy. Playing with him as a coach is great because he pushes you hard and knows what your capable of and doesn't give up on you or allow you to give up on yourself. I myself played football with the old man as my coach and was glad. He pushed me hard and made me do my best.. Granted I got put out the rest of my season, the coaches still did a good job. Kalby is leading Huron's basketball team to victory after victory and you guy's give him no credit for it at all. I'd LOVE to see the one who liked to use "cry-kabby" lead a basketball team and a football team. You'd get so lost doing both.. He doesn't complain about the refs much either[try going to a football game, he knows its more of the kids doing the mistakes than the refs]; so to take one comment he made about some garbage refs and blow it up to something thats no big deal is great.. You must love to be on kalbys jock, you've gotta criticize everything he does. Huron's team fouls, yeah... but what team doesn't? But for three players to foul out in one game? There's something wrong.. Plus both teams were getting fouls called like no tomorrow and FR still had more than Huron and Huron still won.. So to the "cry-kabby" dude? Dont be a pansy and remain anonymous and talk crap. Got something to say then put a name to the anonymous and then post with your non sense.

Anyways, glad to see Milan get their stuff together and pull off a 30 point win.. nice job! And congrats to Jefferson for beating Erie Mason. Work hard guys. Good luck all

    KC

  29. Hey annon at 335 pm. Kalby still takes Lincoln Park students under his wing and helps them, and he doesn't coach any of them. He is just a great guy. He is polarizing because he speaks his mind and does not play politics. So people either love him or hate him, but should he have to hang out at Big Bear Lodge after games just for the coaches in his league to recognize his accomplishments? Was the coach at FR a cry baby when he threw his sport coat? was JJ at Riverview a cry baby when his score keeper missed his timeout total and he cussed out the Huron score table? Was GI coach a cry baby when he told Kalby to sit down and shut up (and Kalby did not stoop to his level with a response)? These are just men who are all trying to do what is best for their 12 boys. They are all human.

  30. actully jj was right about his time outs i talkd to him about it and we watched the film of the game and he didnt use all his time outs SOOOOO get your facts straight and that game ended up being a 1 point game for huron idk that time out mighta helped riverview win

  31. Defend kabby all you want but the original poster has a point. It is NEVER okay to criticize officials, other coaches, other players, or your own players in the paper. Keep that stuff in the locker room. If that is an exampe of the type of leadership exhibited by the Huron coach, one can surmise his other tactics are not so good either.

  32. Come on people at the time of the vote Kalby was 19-0 and the RV coach was was 13-6.Im a RV parent and this is not how i want to see are school win awards. We had a great season and im very proud of are coach and are kids. But Huron was better this year and deseved coty and poty.
