Huron League Thoughts and Questions

Congratulations to Randy Windham and Josh Tropea on winning district championships in their first seasons at SMCC and Milan.

Milan Sophomore Andre Duffin is the real deal.

Huron's Zac Richardson was out of his mind last night against Jefferson.

Edmond Shinavarre and Keenan Wetzel of SMCC are playing like stars.

Milan's C.J Luvene took over in the 4th quarter against Chelsea.

Huron is 26-0 at home over the last two seasons.

SMCC and Huron have winnable Regionals.

Milan has a tall task in their Regional at Columbia Central.

Can the Huron League win its first regional in 15 years?

  2. I think both Huron and SMCC can win their Regionals. There are some very good teams in each but their isn't a Detroit Rennassaince, DePorres, River Rouge or an Inkster that stands in the way of of our league teams. Many State Champions have come through regionals that our league teams would have had to play against.

Milan has a very tough Regional particularly in the semi-final but does have some very good players who may be capable of elevating their games to the next level.

I will try and give some well thought out previews some time tomorrow on each of the games.

  6. If you're a fan of the Huron League you will get behind these three teams and support them!

When SMCC was making their run at the state football championship it made me very proud to look into the stands at Ford Field and see so many Huron, Airport, Jefferson and Flatrock varsity jackets. It says a lot about our fans and only makes the league look good.

Good luck to all three teams this week!

    Mighty Chiefs
    Mighty Falcons
    Mighty Big Reds

  7. From watching the videos? You can't really see how their defense is to know whether or not they'll be able to do well or not against Huron's offense. They got good talent down low but not so much outside shooting. Brennan and Stockert will have their work cut out for them down low but I think they'll be able to pull it off. Good luck boys!

  8. Putting 3 teams in the regionals certainly qualifies the HURON League as one of the top leagues in the SE Michigan. One of our bottom teams Grosse Ile is as good as other teams who've won their leagues. Willow Run beat Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard (the Catholic League runner up), Chelsea beat Willow Run, which was in turn beat by Milan in the district championship, and Milan was beaten by Grosse Ile. Unreal, the parity that exists in the Huron League. What does that say about New Boston Huron which went through the league like a knife through butter. SMCC should breeze though the Class C regional after what they've faced their Huron League battles. You have to admit we've spoiled by the quality of basketball we've watched this year.

  10. LOL..to anonymous @ 1:43 PM

So GI lost to Trenton who was the bottom of the barrel in the Downriver league. And also, Willow Run lost to Truman. So if I follow you, the Huron League would only be the 2nd best league locally behind the Downriver league? Hard to digest making the Huron League one of the top leagues in SE Michigan.

  11. Stop the madness! You people really think these Huron league teams are that good?
Get out and see some real High school ball.
Basketball is the weakest sport in this league. No one will win a regional from these parts.
    Get real folks.

  12. Why and who has to give approval for a post? Have they heard of Freedom of Speech?
I am beginning to think posting on this site is maybe not such a good idea. I am not sure all view points are heard and the ones that are seem to always point in a certain direction. I am not aure whoever does this blog should do it again for basketball. I know of many posts and ideas and opinions that are not printed or allowed to be posted on here.
Censorship and lack of freedom of speech is what many people faught and died for. Who are you anyway to deny it? If you do not post this writing I will put it on M Live. I am sure it will not be censored there.

  13. OK I have to respond to this anonymous yahoo is is pulling the freedom of speech card.

Who: I Chris Schultz give all approval for what gets posted on this site.

Why: Because I attach my name to everything I post.

If you don't think this is a good place to post then don't. I have no idea what you have written because you won't attach a name to what you say. I have stated the rules on here many times and if people don't meet those rules then I don't post them.

You didn't really say that, "Censorship and lack of freedom of speech is what many people faught and died for" did you?

I will brief in my history lesson for you. They fought and died for people who stand up for what they believe in. Writing some jibberish about kids and calling coaches names anonymously is not what people died for. They loathed people like you.

Our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence knowing that it would lead to their ultimate demise so we can have the freedoms you talk about. *Please notice that I said those people signed their names.*

So, I Chris Schultz will deny you the right to write on my blog because you criticize kids and call coaches names behind the face of anonymity.

Before you say Chris won't publish my criticisms of him on here, I will say go right ahead. I publish all criticisms of me as long as they don't use foul language.

Feel free to write anything you like about me or my blog on mlive behind an anonymous name. You'll fit in well there.

  14. You do a good Job Chris keep up the good work!!!! Like you said no one died for someone to come on here and bash a player or a coach. If you are going to bash them at lest put your name on the post. That’s the problem with the world today people can criticize some one and stay anonymous. I would bet anything if you made people put there name on there post you would have a lot less posts. Just my 2 cents!! Keep up the good work!!! Go Chiefs!!!

  15. I have to agree with the agree with the guy that played the freedom of speech card, he has a good point. I have probably had about 12 dozen comments between this and the football blog not posted because they were a little to honest and blunt for some peoples taste.

    GO AIRPORT BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
