Baseball no, track maybe. If I can get the league coaches to submit times I will probably put something together. I don't think that will happen though. Most coaches like to keep their times to themselves and I understand why.
I do think it would be a great way to promote the sport in the league and around the region.
Come on Huron is undefeated and is playing the best basketball theres no such thing as a ugly win. Yes, Airport has a win streak going and they will be put to test tommorow. It should be a heck of a game because both team are playing really well. I still think SMCC pulls of the upset 63-60
Everyone knows scarton has been the talk of the league this season. But on Tuesday when they face the chiefs you will see a determinted and very skilled group of seniors who care about nothing more then going through regular season undeafeated and winning a regional title the community might not be behind them but the players are focuesed and wont let any one nor any team get in the way u can quate that in about 3 weeks when Huron is in the post season.... haha Hurons oppents better have there shoes laced up pretty tight cause there not takin the throttle down any time soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Airport (9-7) SMCC (8-9) It's a tough game to pick. But I like the fact that the Falcons might use a big line up and control the boards. They can have Brown 6-5, Harras 6-4, Wetzel 6-4 and either Highers or Wilson at 6-2. So if they keep Airport off the boards and hold them to one shot I like there chances. Airport is capable of shooting 50% or better and I think they need to do that to win. It isn't about respect it's the match ups. Don't get me wrong it could turn into a three for all with Jones and Pidgeon trying to out shoot Wetzel and Shinevarre then Airport could have there way. It should be a good game for the fans.
CC will show the jets whats up same as they did on the football field. This will be the game to watch. The Jets will come in thinking they have it and CC will pull it together for this one to show them. watch. CC by 4 OT
Richardson and Stockert are too much for FR to handle. Scarton is good yes, but Richardson is a force to be reconded with. Look for Stockert to own the boards and Richardson and Tavtigan and Brennan to do work. Sorry but Huron will walk away with it. Huron by 7.
Bears will look to do something and make something of themselves. They're coming into this winless and wanting to atleast get a win before the league closes. Bears get it by 4.
Milan has been falling short lately and doesn't look like they want to finish strong? I don't get it. Milan was suppose to be the stronger team but looks like they're throwing it in early? The bucs if they work hard and get a quick start, they can hold it if they play good defense. Bucs by 6.
I know nothing about Huron League baseball. Of course some say I know nothing about Huron League football and basketball but I honestly don't really follow Huron League baseball. It wouldn't be a blog worth reading. Maybe somebody else will do it.
If I follow through on doing a league website come August. I will find a way to cover every sport. I'm just not sure if I can pull off doing a full Huron League website.
Alright Basketball man you think SMCC is going to start a big line up and control the boards that never happens... a big part of airports success as of late is they are allowing teams one shot... Tyler Baker 7 rebounds a game Jimmy Fidler 6 rebounds a game Daniel Jones 5 rebounds a game Devaun Posey 4 rebounds a game and has been gettnig a lot more lately thats over 20 rebounds a game in just those guys not counting all the others that play... SPencer Smith also gets his fair share of rebounds
Milan is much better at home then they are on the road... Their crowd really gets into it... I see Milan winning a close game with Freshman Point Guard Turnage having a big day.
Flat Rock 56 Huron 64
Huron will win but look for Flat Rock to make it a very close game since Huron stole one from Flat Rock earlier this season... By the way Scarton is a much better player then anyone on Hurons team... Stockert will win it for them because of Flat Rocks lack of strength down low... Richardson = overrated... a kid who never played could score that many if he already shot 287 times this year too...
Grosse Ile 50 Jefferson 58
This game is a really big who cares but i give one to Jefferson they are do for a win.. Nobdoy on Grosse Iles team is as physical as Oley.
Airport 68 SMCC 60
I give Airport 8 points but with the way that they are playing right now i could see them winning this one by 20 points also... I guess SMCC tries to run Man to Man now... Good Luck running a man to man against the best Trio in the League... Baker Jones Pidgeon... they will light you up and it will hurt
League #1 Huron #2 Riverview #3 Airport #4 Milan #5 SMCC #6 Flat Rock #7 Grosse Ile #8 Jefferson #7
Nice preduictions. Just a short word on your cheap shot at Richardson. He has shot 287 times this year. Scarton has taken 285 shots. Both players are the best on their team and should take a majority of shots.
If I do a track blog it will be only fact based. It would be more of an info site with limited comments. I will see what the coaches think. If every coach is in, I'll do it. If not, I won't.
Once Huron plays a good team out of league they will get pounded. I am more impressed with their coach than the team. They just arent that good I am not sure how they are undefeated. I guess you have to give it to the coaching and the fact that the kids do expect to win.
Chris, there is a huge difference beteew Richardson's 287 shoots and Scarton's 285 shoots! Flat Rock has nothing but Scarton. Scarton has to shot the ball that much for Flat Rock to be competitive. Conner is a good player, but he can not shoot, and Kobylasz is MIA this year. Who else is suppose to score on FR? Scarton whats to pass first, but he has no one to pass too.
Richardson on the other hand has a whole team of scores. I would take Hurons bench over Flat Rocks starters.
Last year Tavtigian had more 20 point games that Richardson and this year Tavtigian is luck to get 4 shots a game.
This week is a tough as it gets picking winners. I think anyone from all Four (4) games has a shot to win so here I go
Riverview @ Milan - Milan gets back on track 62-60 Only because they are Home.
Flat Rock @ Huron - Huron shows once again why they are undefeated. If Flat Rock was to win Scarton could steal player of the year award from Richardson. It shouldn't happen Huron 71 Flat Rock 65
SMCC @ Airport - Could be the game of the night I said yesterday Falcons 63 Jets 60
Grosse Ile @ Jefferson - Everyone wants Jefferson to win this game except Robbie White and the Red Devils. Grosse Ile 55 Jefferson 48
That is not what was said. What was said was, "Richardson = overrated... a kid who never played could score that many if he already shot 287 times this year too..."
I simply stated, "He has shot 287 times this year. Scarton has taken 285 shots. Both players are the best on their team and should take a majority of shots.
What I did was point out that Huronleagueinabox's argument and/or point was wrong based on the fact that Scarton had shot just as many times. If you look closely at the numbers, Richardson has a slightly better overall FG% than Scarton.
I'm not saying Richardson is better than Scarton. I am simply showing you with facts that the original argument or statement was way off base and quite frankly a cheapshot.
The point most recently made is a completely different argument and has nothing to do with the original point.
Listen I in know way was making a cheap shot i probably shouldnt have put overrated because he is a very good player... I like him for his defense i like the way he is instinctive and gets tons and tons of steals... thats what i look for in basketball players everyone wants to play offense but i look on the other side... i just dont like the fact that Richardson has the most points but has also taken most shots... and yes andrew scarton is right there with him but look at how many they took compared to Brad Stewart who is 3rd in scoring... 287 and 285 to Brad Stewarts 208... almost 80 more shots and they only average one more a game then him... thats the only point i was making so everyone calm down... I also want to give gratz to Huron for winning 2nd in a row... Riverview for locking up second place.... and Airport for making an amazing turn around in there season and beating their rivals last night...
HuronLeagueInABox, I don't know how you can say Scarton is the best player in the league.
Richardson: #1 in scoring, #1 in steals, #2 in Free Throws, #5 in Assists, #14 in blocks, and #23 in rebounds.
Scarton: #2 in Scoring, #6 in steals, #3 in free throws, #2 in assists, and in blocks and rebounds he don't even crack the top 25.
Scarton is only leading in one catagory, assists! Which he definetely should be. He is a point guard and Richardson is a swing man. And still Scarton has only 13 more assists than Richardson.(68-55) Steals which is a huge stat in my eyes, a steal is a turnover for the opposing team baby. and Richardson has Twice as many as Scarton does! (60-30)
Huron 18-0 FR 6-12
The best player in the league race is not even close. Richardson by a mile.
You say you stand by your selection. I'm curious to hear how you back it up.
I'll agree Scarton is a much better ball handler but fancy ball handling skills don't win games.
Steals, blocks, rebounds, and scoring do! Defense let me say that again DEFENSE wins games! hence Huron's record.
All you have to do is look at the points for and points against stats. Case rested, ball is in your court!!
Richardson is NOT the best player in the league by any means. I would take Scarton,Stewart, Kowalski, Wetzel, and others over him for sure! Ive seen him play many time, and those stats must not be accurate or they are just awfully kind at huron with their stats. I am not impressed with him at all
HL; try making your way out to some more games other than thinking. Your thought is wrong. The stats are right. Your a sour fan hating on Richardson because the fact remains, HE IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE. You have no facts to back that he isn't. Your just going off your thoughts. See where thinking gets you? You can take Scarton, Stewart, or any of them any day... Richardson has beat them all. Like I said; make your way out to a Huron game before throwing out BS like that because obviously you've yet to see the kid play.
I have seen Huron play a bunch of close games. When it's crunch time in the 4th and Huron is down or the score is close. Richardson can take over a game. If he wants to score he will score, if he wants to steal the ball he will get it from you, if he wants to crash the boards and get a rebound he will get it. There isn't anything he can't do on the court. He plays with more of a desire to win than any kid I have seen yet in this league.
It is a big reason why Huron is undefeated. Scarton is good, really good but I don't see how you could give player of the year to someone who has the third worse record in the league. And looking at the stats (I know stats are overrated) however Richardson leads Scarton in every catagory but one!!
One other thing that I think is important I watched both of these kids play last year and I think that Richardson has improved much much more than Scarton has since the previous year.
Chris are you going to be doing a track or baseball blog?
ReplyDelete“I know Huron is undefeated, but Airport might be playing the best of any team in the league right now,’’ SMCC coach Randy Windham said.
