If you combine both games, Stewart dominated Scarton and Richardson.
ReplyDeleteThis is just in heads up fashion (I know people will say Richardson got his team the wins)
Yes everyone will say Scarton because of how much BUZZ he gets and he won it last year... everyone will say Richardson because he scores 20 a game after shooting 30 times a game which nobody seems to think anything about... So Stewart and Baker will get the shaft of not even put into the talk for player of the year...
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was saying Chris!!!
ReplyDeleteYes Scarton is better than Stewart and Baker and Richardson is the best on the best team so i wont argue with them... but everyone puts Stewart so much higher than Baker

Sorry everyone that was a promotion for the Rosettastone Language course. They asked me to try their products for free. They gave me 30 days to try a language and see how it worked out. They sent me four different languages, so I tried them all.
ReplyDeletePretty amazing stuff. It gets kinda confusing though. French, Italian and Spanish are a lot a like. Russian was a completely different animal.
For player of the year I would think that Richardson and Scarton and Stewart will be on the ballet. My guess would be that Richardson wins for this main reason. He is the best player on the best team. If Flat Rock had a better season Scarton may get may votes, but that just is not the case.
ReplyDeleteRichardson wins Player of the year.
The real toss up is coach of the year. Kabby won last year. He may get it again. If Milan would have finished stronger I would say the Milan coach would have won. Also Roecker at Airport will get some consideration because of there very strong finish.
My guess is Kabby wins back to back coach of the year too. Undefeated in the league goes a very long way.
Love what you have done with your page, especially the turkish like language of which you are now speaking.
ReplyDeleteSurely you jest Chris
ReplyDeleteThere is no "flash" in Baker's game. I think that is what hurts him as far as getting noticed. He usually does things quietly.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we had a run on the voting booth by unidentified computers. All voted for one player but hey it's America. Let's see where this thing shakes out.
ReplyDeletePlease check the stats page. Richardson has not taken 30 shots in a game.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the league games. He has taken 203 shots in 12 games. That is 16.9 shots per game and I would call it 17.
In league play he is averaging 22.3 ppg
I have seen Huron play a bunch of close games. When it's crunch time in the 4th and Huron is down or the score is close. Richardson can take over a game. If he wants to score he will score, if he wants to steal the ball he will get it from you, if he wants to crash the boards and get a rebound he will get it. There isn't anything he can't do on the court.
ReplyDeleteHe plays with more of a desire to win than any kid I have seen yet in this league.
It is a big reason why Huron is undefeated.
Scarton is good, really good but I don't see how you could give player of the year to someone who has the third worse record in the league.
And looking at the stats (I know stats are overrated) however Richardson leads Scarton in every catagory but one!!
One other thing that I think is important I watched both of these kids play last year and I think that Richardson has improved much much more than Scarton has since the previous year.
Player of the year
ReplyDeleteIt has to be Scarton. If you just look at the players skills, Scarton is the best player in the league by alot. Teams that play Flat Rock all there defensive game plan is stoping him, he still gets his points even facing double teams. He can control the game all by his self.
#2
Stewart
He controls game by getting to the foul line. He will be the player of the year next year. Some how he gets by his defender every time and gets fouled going to the hole. He has shot more free throws then the next too combined.
#3
Richardson
He is a very good player. He does alot of thing right on the court. But I do not think he is close to the play of the year. He has a very good team that is around him and he does not get the defensive pressure that Scarton or Stewart gets. I do not even think he is the most dominant player on his team. Stockert does not get the shot like he should. Richardson has shot 104 3's on the year and a total of 307 shots on the year. Stockert has the next highest shots total on Huron, he shot only 118. Richardson has just as many 3 attempts as the most dominant big man in the league. Does that make since? Too me it does not!
For the people that that just throw out stats to say who is the best player in the league are wrong. To me the Player of the year should be who is the most important person for their team. That person is Scarton. He does more for FR than Richarson does for Huron or Stewart does for View.
ReplyDeleteFor the Richardson supporters that use his stats as their arguement. There has been about 20 posts on this site about Huron padding their stats. I do not know if it is true or not (and I do not care if it is true). But my point is quit useing stats as the only arguement.
When is the last time the MVP in the NBA was on a losing team? It does not happen. If Flat Rock was 10-4 the case for Scarton would be very strong.
ReplyDeleteRichardson's team is 13-0 in the league. He is the best player on the best team like I said before. For that matter Richardson should win league MVP.
After all it really comes down to wins and loses. Individual awards are usually affiliated with TEAM success.
Every coach in the league should vote be voting for Richardson for MVP.
Come on stop it. Richardson is by far the best player in the league.By is stats by his by his play by his leader ship on his team. The only one close is scarton and he's just the best player at his position. Richardson is the best over all player in the league he does everything.Scarton should not have won it last year but there was just position players out there last year. When Richardson is a true MVP.When it comes crunch time Richardson takes control and wins the game every time.Stewart and scarton don't win thoses games. And when Richardson has played thoses two guys he takes control and always gets the win.
ReplyDeleteEven though Scarton is the best player in the league, Richardson will win because his team is undefeated. Dont get me wrong Richardson is a great player but scarton has more raw basketball talent. If you took Scarton away from Flat Rock they would be devastated but if you took Richardson away from Huron they would still be half way decent.
ReplyDeleteHuron shots from the starting line up.
ReplyDeleteSHOTS SHOTS
Stockert 118 Richardson 307
Tavtigian 79
Weclowski 71
Brennan 51
Total 319 Total 307
Chris, your right he does not shot 30 times a game. It just looks that way because he has just a many shots as the other 4 starters.
Huron is 18-0 and the league champs for a second straight year and your complaint is...
ReplyDeleteI don't see a point in the discussion of how many times Richardson shoots or whatever. THEY WIN! Brennan, Weclowski and Stockert are defensive players! They're always on the boards and always stealing. They will tell you themselves that Richardson is a better shooter then them. Stockert is good for rebounding and layups. Brennan and Weclowski are good for layups. Tavtigan is good for some 3-point shots when given the ball and the chance. Richardson is good all the way around. Richardson's shootin numbers are totally irrelevant to this entire thing. Look at his points, steals, rebounds, ect.. Who cares how many times a ball leaves his hands..
ReplyDeleteKC
its kinda hard for baker to win player of the year when he wont make 1st team all league. They pick one person at each position for first team all league. Guess what? Scarton and Stewart and Baker all play point guard. Sorry "Snake" but Scarton and Stewart has the edge. maybe you should text Scarton too.
ReplyDeleteMVP means most VALUABLE player right???
ReplyDeleteTake Richardson off Huron; chiefs are still good
Take Scarton off flat rock; still close to the same (still bottom half of the league)
Take Baker off airport; jones and pidgeon can still hold their own
TAKE STEWART OFF RIVERVIEW; pirates don't win a game!
I've seen him play plenty of times, he carries the pirate ship on his back...
A couple of points everyone.
ReplyDeleteThe Huron League award is Player of the Year. There is a difference between that and MVP.
Also they don't pick by position in the Huron League.
It is the kids who get the most first team votes combined with second team votes. You get 2 points for a first team vote and 1 point for a second team vote. Each coach lists a first team and a second team after nominations are made. The points are tallied and the Top 6 or 7 get 1st team depending if there is a tie or not. The next 6 are second team and everyone else who receives a vote gets honorable mention. You cannot vote for your own players.
The Player of the Year vote is completly seperate and usually only a fw players are nominated. Hopefully that clears things up a bit.
Basketball is a selfish sport, talking about whose better than who. At least in football their are hardly any arguing over who the best skill position player is because everyone knows without their offensive lineman they couldnt amount to jack squat!
ReplyDeleteIm gonna have to disagree with that...
ReplyDeleteIf you take Richardson off Huron they would not nearly be the team they are... Hes the top scorer and he leads in steals he is a huge huge huge part of Hurons success and they would crumble without him....
If you take Scarton off of Flat Rocks team then Jefferson would beat them... He is there only scoring threat....(Yes even connor gets set up to score as a result of Scartons movement) They would be awful without him... thats why he's MVP
If you take Baker off of Airport then they would crumble... Go to an Airport game he attacks and when others collapse thats when he hits Pidgeon or Jones for their 3's... Yes Jones is a good scorer but without Baker handling the ball for them all day long you would see a huge increase in turnovers... He has been there for 3 years and understands how to control the tempo
If you took Stewart off of Riverview they would be in huge trouble... He penetrates and gets to the line... Riverview can always play at a fast pace because they are constantly getting breaks because Stewart is at the line... I would like to see him shoot the jump shot a little more though.. He tends to be drive drive drive... I dont blame him though cuz nobody has stopped it yet...
You people that get on here dont understand the duty of the point guard... the other players are roll players... Shooting guards need to hit open shots and the big men need to clean the boards... the point guard is the one who has the ball when the whole pressure of the game is on... they have to control the tempo, they have to be a scoring threat, they need to be well conditioned because most teams fall apart when their point guard is not in the game... the Point guards are the most important on every team... Even Richardson is the one who controls the ball when game is on the line... The reason the talk of the league for best player is Richardson, Scarton, Baker, and Stewart... Is becasue they are the best... You dont see Wetzel or Jones with the ball in the final seconds...
I believe that it was the Huron people that said that Huron had 10-12 kids that could be scorers on the team. The numbers does not say this. As stated above Richardson has just as many shot as the other starter on Huron combined. To me it looks like Huron is a one Man team.
