Tuesday's match up between Airport and Huron should be interesting.
Flat Rock's guards versus Dundee's big men this week.
Milan looks like they could be very good next year.
Jefferson is winless in the Huron League but they play hard.
SMCC looks as if they are turning things around a bit.
Looks like the bullseye will be on Riverview next season.
I wonder how Airport will fare in a Class A District.
I guess the only award that really matters is the League Championship.
AIRPORT PLAYS HURON ON THURSDAY
ReplyDeleteAIRPORT LOSES TO HURON ON THURSDAY!
ReplyDeleteMIGHTY CHIEFS
Huron will be the only Undefeated team in the state after Thursday!!!! So it really doesn't matter about the P.O.Y. award or the all league voting, there A team and there trying to win that Regional Title not personal accolades.
ReplyDeleteLet's Change the name of this blog to the Huron Basketball blog. Everything you need to know about the Chiefs and the people that are obsessed with them. Still want to see if this Huron winning stays up. You cannot gain real TRADITION with two winning seasons. "Rome wasn't built in a day."
ReplyDeleteCan anyone inform me on the district match-ups yet?
ReplyDeleteYea people wanted to rename the football blog after SMCC. If you don't like the blog, don't visit. I don't care.
ReplyDeleteDistrict match ups are own MHSAA.com
Weird how the winning team always seems to be predominant on the blog. If you win you get to talk.....of course none of us are the ones playing so I don't know if that still applies.
ReplyDeleteLet me start by saying Chris you do a great job with this blog. I have enjoyed it all season long. It is a very good way to stay informed in the league.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to JJ for winning COTY. He has done a great job at Riverview. I coached against him for many years while he was the jv coach and then the varsity coach. This honor is well deserved.
Congrats to Scarton for winning Player of the year. I felt he was the best player in the league last year. And I am sure he is deserving of this honor this year. Although there is a very strong case for Richardson.
Congrats to Huron for another great season. Wow what a turn around for them. They should be very proud of themselves.
I coached in this league for 10 years. And I enjoyed every minute of it.
Good luck to all huron league teams in the district tournament.
Corey Wiley
I don't understand Chris, just because Kabby didn't win COY and Richardson didn't win POY that means that those awards don't mean anything? That is a nice slap in the face of Scarton and JJ. You have become too big of a Huron slappy. Congrats to Andrew and JJ!
ReplyDeleteMy point was quite simply that the League Championship was something that was decided on the basketball court.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am a Huron slappy being that I live there. It's funny though, I was called an SMCC slappy 3-4 months ago during football season.
In my opinion if people are going to get so butt hurt over which team your more so for then they shouldn't read it. I'm a huron student and I'm all for Huron. Have been even since football season. Chris has his different teams he likes for different sports. He's told us all from the get go he's for CC in football and for Huron in basketball. Take those awards as slaps in the face all you want but its true.
ReplyDeleteKabby was the coach to turn things around at huron and lead them to TWO BACK TO BACK league championships. That takes a great coach to do. And Richardson was the best of all statistics minus 1. They [kabby and richardson] were both VERY deserving of the awards for the simple fact they are on the winning team! Scarton was on a team that went 6-8.. Your gonna tell me a kid on a team that went 6-8 is deserving of the award if his team couldn't get a winning season? Richardson was on and led a GREAT TEAM! Something Scarton didn't have. So yeah that award doesn't really mean much because it wasn't so deserving if you only won 6 games of 14. As for the coach of the year award? That's a little different because both coaches had a great year and were lead the top teams. So that was a toss up. Kabby should still be proud he led a great team to yet another championship. JJ should be proud he was able to compete and win and get right on hurons butt for a second place championship.
All in all only thing that matters amongst all of the schools is the Huron League championship because that is only given to the team that works hard and wins! Not something that is voted on amongst the coaches. So as of now that's the only thing to really matter and that's why Chris said that.
MIGHT CHIEFS! Good job!
KC
I am pretty sure Chris never said he liked CC in football over any other team.
ReplyDeleteRemember it's the Coaches who voted talk to them. As a coach you see things a whole lot different than players or fans. Did Scarton mean more to his team that Richardson of course. Huron could have won 12-13 games without Richardson. I don't think Flat Rock wins a game without him. You also need to at the position PG - SG everyone sets up a shooting guard the point guard controls the game breaks the press and is the leader. It's OK to disagree because if we didn't this blog would be boring. It has been a wonderful season for many Huron League teams and players. I think the will be several choosen for the All Region team selected by the writers.
ReplyDeleteI find it odd that Huron wins the league 2 years in a row, go undefeated this year and do not get COY or POY honors?
ReplyDeleteThe Huron League is not very good in basketball, but geez, no special honors for Huron?
Sorry, but that is just wrong.
So as the Huron Track coach what is your thoughts on whether or not you will be doing a track blog?
ReplyDeletechris i thought we could talk about coaches and you would post it.
ReplyDeleteIm going to go to some Huron track meets so I can have the oppurtunity to meet this friendly Chris fellow
ReplyDeleteHuron people no one in the league likes you that is why you did not win the honors. So stop crying about it!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can be critical of coaches but we can't allow speculation of what goes on.
ReplyDeleteAllowed Example: Coach Schultz needs to substitute more. He should be playing players who rebound better and commit to playing defense.
or
Coach Schultz needs to be fired, he has won 7 games the last two years and lost 35.
Unallowed Example: Coach Schultz is friends with Johnny's dad. That is why Johnny plays more than Billy. Those guys have dinner together all the time.
I don't want to quiet free speech but we do need to be careful of what we write.
There have been some well thought out post that didn't make it through because of something minor that was objectionable.
Let me suggest that you always preview your post first. Then decide whether you would attach your name to it. If you choose to remain anonymous, odds are your probably borderline.
Now I can't authenticate when someone puts their name on something but if you choose a handle and become a fan, your post almost always goes through.
Make sense?
I understand thanks
ReplyDeleteNo one in the league like us? OH THATS RIGHT! No one likes us because we just went 42-2 in the past 2 years combined and they rolled through every team thus far this season.. Its not that no one likes Huron, they're just sore losers because they lost to a team, which for so many years wasn't great and are now losing to them.. That's a good reason to "hate" huron tho right?

Flat Rock 64 New Boston Huron 61
ReplyDeleteDistrict Quarterfinals
The only good program that Huron has is wrestling led by there very good coach Jake Schulaw. They are terrible at everything else and have been terrible at everything else for a long time. This 42-2 over two years is just a fluke. In a couple years they will be awful again, just like everyother sport (besides wrestling).
ReplyDeleteAll of Huron's wrestlers got knocked out of states this past match... Atleast Andrew Banas got 2nd in state in his weight class Last year.
ReplyDeleteFor clarification purpose's Huron has 2 wrestlers at the states this weekend at the Palace. Joe Ferguson 112lbs Freshman and Jason VanWasshenova Senior 145 lbs. Before you post something make sure your facts are correct.
