  1. As the league is about to start I would like to drop a line about each huron league team.

SMCC- Looks like they were overrated in pre season. They miss the legend more than they even know.

Huron- Nice start .. Richardson is for real. Maybe they can win back to back championships.. MAYBE???

Riverview- Consistent program. They continue to put a very nice team on the floor year in and year out.

Airport- Good guard play.. They will go as far as the guards can take them. Should be a solid year for them.

Grosse Ile- Man do they miss the days of Lonnie Pugh.

Flatrock- I would imagine they are very disapointed in their season so far. Scarton is the player of the year "last year". Looks like Richardson was very important to them! Looks like Scarton is way overrated.

Milan- Where is Aaron White? Can you remember when Milan was a powerhouse. Now they struggle to even compete.

Jefferson- Lots of trouble in bear land. Can the new coach find a way to win a few more games? The days of Jefferson competing night in and night out may be over.

  4. RV lost to wyd by 20
    Huron beat wyd by 40
GI lost to annap by 30
    Huron beat annp by 20
Huron beat DDC by 22 at DDC
Smcc plays DDC next thur.at Smcc

Huron has also beat two of the best teams in the DR league LP and truman.
Huron is the best team in the moroe region and the down river league. They put 5 guys out there that play great Def.And play as a team with points comming from everyone. And ZAC RICHARDSON is the best player in lower MI.He is avg. 26 a game and no one can play DEf. like him MVP.

  5. OK, let's not get too carried away with Huron. Believe me, nobody appreciates their recent success more than me.

Huron has a really nice team. They have beaten everyone on the schedule and will probably win a bunch more.

Scrimmages are great but remember coaches use that time to work on different things including; scheme, matchups, combinations and chemistry.

Huron did not beat Wyandotte, Truman and Monroe. They ran a scrimmage so the coaches could work on certain things. Also, games are completely different. There are crowds, referees, emotion and coaches who are actually trying to win games.

I look forward to watching the Chiefs as they defend their Huron League title.

As for Zac, he is an excellent high school player at both ends of the floor who makes his team better.

As a Huron resident and the former coach there please do one thing for me that will benefit the Chiefs greatly this year. Get people to come to the games. You have an undefeated team tht won 22 games last year and may have a better team this year. That gym should be packed every time the Chiefs play. The attendence at the first two games was wrong.

  6. FR not good....still they are playing class A schools and not charter schools.
Scarton is not "over-rated." He is as good as most people say.

  7. I see what your saying but if you would have been at the scrimmages they where all playing to win. They where seeing where they stand against good teams. And huron has been playing all 12 guys some times playing the jr.more. I think you will start to see a full gym now that the holidays are over and we start playing league games. If not i would be very sad for the school.

  8. Who ever comes out of the Flat rock District would they play in the Riverview District.

  9. Who said SMCC was going to be some great team. They have 1 starter back which is less than anyone. Because their JV team last year was good. And Andrew Scarton is a very good player not overrated as you say Anonymous.

  10. The "Flatrock" district is really at Huron this year. It includes Erie Mason, Flat rock, GI, Jefferson, Trenton and of course Huron. The winner then goes to Riverview for the regional. Riverview would have to win their district, which is hosted by Dearborn Heights - Robichaud in order to advance to the regional.

  11. The huron coach plays to win even scrimmages I watched them play at Woodhaven at summer league. They were the only team trying to win, the other team there were leting there 3 sting play at the end. That is why they win there scrimmages.

P.S. Scarton is the most skilled player in the huron league by a mile and I do not even like FR. But if you see him play and handle the ball there is no doubt that he is the most skilled player.

  12. Sounds like everyone is ready to play Huron League basketball so we can really find out who the contenders/players will be this year. I can't wait for some great basketball games come January and February. Good luck to all teams in the 2010 Huron League championship race!

  13. Scarton is not the best player he dose not play DEF. sorry. If he's a great ball handler let join the harlem glob trotters. To be the besr player you must do it all.As far as there scrimages they your nuts they have been playing there scd string all summer thats why there so good. There second string can beat any team in huron. And yes they always play to win.thats whey there so good but you keep playing to lose.
