Summer Basketball
Summer basketball has all but begun. Let everyone know where your high schools will be playing this summer. This gives the fans an opportunity to go and check everyone out.
Look for a lot of teams to be playing in the Woodhaven tourney on June 20th and June 22nd! Flat Rock, Milan, Riverview, GR, Woodhaven, Salem, Southgate, Truman, and others! There should be some good games! It starts at 2pm and ends at 9ish if you want to look at teams!
riverview will be playing at woodhaven johnglen carlson and romulus they are looking pretty athletic with haube turner and krach looking like they will be a real threat tobeler is a great shooter and borieo will be a reliable point guard
reliable? I thought you needed actual talent to be able to play the point guard position? Is their coach letting anyone play that position now a days? The Riverview Program used to be decent once upon a time..
Besides Wetzel! lol, we all know he's legit. Has he gotten any offers for college basketball yet or no? But is there anyone else that we should be looking out for?
Wetzel - SMCC Duffin - Milan Ames - Huron McCormick - Airport Turner - Riverview Chickeral - Flat Rock Bosanac - Jefferson Matulonis - Grosse Ile
I would say that those are the best players on each team in the league. The league is definitely down talent wise. It will be very competitive every night though.
Are there any decent post players left in the Huron League? Teams like Riverview lost Kowalski, & CC lost Brown. In the Huron League it seems as if there is lack of size in the post. If you know of any decent post players left feel free to post.
I don't think the posts get as much credit as they should. (not knocking the guards because guards bust their butts too.)
1. Milan - This should be their year 2. SMCC - Wetzel will be very good 3. Huron - As long as Kabby is in charge, they will be tough 4. GI - This should be the year that they get out of the bottom 1/2 of the league 5. Airport - Should improve on last season 6. Riverview - Lost alot of firepower 7. Flat Rock - Like Riverview, they lost a ton of offense 8. Jefferson - They won one league game last season, but also lost the best athlete in the school
Of course it's only August and many factors could change these rankings
Milan- To many slip-ups towards the end of the season. SMCC- Wetzel will be a beast. But didn't they lose Brown, Schinaverra <= sorry about the typo lol. Huron- Solid starting 5, okay bench. GI- Haven't seen them play, heard they almost beat CC in a double ot? Airport- Zach Baker, but where's the rest of the team? Riverview- May have lost a lot of big players, but have 2 key players in Corey Turner and Zach Haube. Beat Milan and put them on a losing streak. Flat Rock- Hasn't been a good program since their former star player left 2 years ago, but did beat Milan.. Riverview and FR are both streaky teams.. Jefferson- Doesn't have enough decent players behind Ryan Bosanac.
I agree with the person above! Anything can happen from now until the start of the Basketball season!
MY PREDICTION: 1. Huron 2. SMCC 3. Milan 4. Riverview 5. Flat Rock 6/7. GI/Airport (could flip flop) 8. Jefferson
Milan - They were still very young last year with only one senior starter. Huron - Hernandez/Ames will lead them SMCC - Loss of Brown/Wilson/Shinavarre will be big. Still return Wetzel/Gonyea and a solid JV GI - Return 5 of top 7 and JV was 19-1 Riverview - Haube/Turner have to prove that they can play without Stewart/Kowalski Airport - McCormick/Potcova/Baker will be a solid group Flat Rock - Loss of Wade/Cottongin is a whole lot of offense Jefferson - Bosanac/Hart combo just not enough firepower
Problem with GI is that they haven't played as a team in several years. There are too many "me" players and until that is disciplined (talent is there)they won't be any better than the bottom of the pack.
Been to the fall league games at brighton to scout milan and cc. milan looks very athletic. lead by turnage and duffin.#11 from milan looks like a solid point guard. nice handle and defense. cc looked confused when the ball wasnt in wetzel's hands. i know this isnt the complete roster(football guys are missing) but im worried about cc this year. who will their options be if wetzel is under controlled

ReplyDeleteWho are some players in the Huron League to be looking out for this year?
ReplyDeleteTorin Wetzel is basically running the huron league.

CJ Turnage will be the best player in the league hands down. Wetzel and Duffin Second and Third.

Seth Gonyea from smcc graduated
ReplyDeleteWrote Gonyea but I meant Beste. My bad.
ReplyDeleteProblem with GI is that they haven't played as a team in several years. There are too many "me" players and until that is disciplined (talent is there)they won't be any better than the bottom of the pack.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for Riverview.(underestimated team) Upcoming talent. John hutchison and Max mousoleas
ReplyDeleteThose 2 would be lucky to get time this year.. ^ Riverview has to many seniors, and Hatzl has 6-8 man rotation.
ReplyDeleteBest back court in the league?
ReplyDeleteAre we going to see a list of projected top players this season? (sorry just curious)
ReplyDeleteanything to the rumor that Ray Lauwers is returning to coach CC varsity?
ReplyDeleteBeen to the fall league games at brighton to scout milan and cc. milan looks very athletic. lead by turnage and duffin.#11 from milan looks like a solid point guard. nice handle and defense. cc looked confused when the ball wasnt in wetzel's hands. i know this isnt the complete roster(football guys are missing) but im worried about cc this year. who will their options be if wetzel is under controlled
