Please take some time to vote for the team you think will win the league this season. Also take some time to comment on your pick and why you think they will win the league.
Will it be the defending champs?
Will Riverview return to glory?
Can SMCC make a run?
Will the new kid capture a title over at Milan?
Let everyone know what you think.
Those are the top 4 teams but what order will they finish. Each team has some outstanding players. It should be interesting to see wich team will separate them from the pack. I don't see a 14-0 team like Huron was last year. I see each of these teams around around 10-4 or 11-3.
ReplyDeleteHere we go
Riverview 11-3
Milan 10-4
SMCC 10-4
Huron 10-4
Grosse Ile 6-8
Jefferson 4-10
Flatrock 3-11
Airport 2-12
Top 3 Players (No Order)
B Stewart
E Shinevarre
A Duffin
Good Luck to all teams and PLAY HARD!
FLAT ROCK will def be better than Jefferson !!
ReplyDeleteMilan all the way!
ReplyDeletePederson from SMCC will be a top performer.
ReplyDeleteAirport looks to be in for a loooong season. Rumor has them to only have 10 players on the roster this year, and only 3 have any experience on the varsity level. Some of the better athletes over there did not go out this year, don't know what it is, but I heard the senior class is one of the laziest groups to go through Airport in a long time. Not only that, but the junior and sophomore class may be even worse!!!!! Here are just a few names who didn't go out and possible reasons:
ReplyDeleteKyle Johnson - LAZY!!!!!!
Zack Baker - Injured in football
Brandon Lewis - ??????
Jodeci Mays - Thinks he's a D1 football player
Airport has some athletes, just the wrong kind of attitudes right now for basketball. One thing is for sure, the thinking of being a D1 athlete in another sport should never come into the conversation with any of the current high schoolers at Airport because there are none!!!!!!
Good luck to Marino this year, as it could be a long one.
If they were lazy they wouldnt contend for league championships in baseball every year...
ReplyDeleteim sure the coaching change has a bit of an impact on players decisions.
ReplyDeleteBasketball and baseball are 2 totally different sports all together. Baseball requires a skill set, but basketball actually requires you to put some effort in. Guys out at Airport who could actually help them out if they would have stayed and played, would rather sit on the couch and play X-box!!!!! The times are changing with the attitudes and work ethic of Airport athletes. The baseball and football teams will soon see the same thing the basketball team is seeing.
ReplyDeleteFlat rock has 9
ReplyDelete12- cottongim
12- buehrer
12- montiy
12- wade
11- theisen
11- sturgeon
11- Smith
10- chickeral
10- blosser
Well we all know one thing for sure, Airport won't be on this blog talking crap, because in this one, Huron is the leaders, and will hopefully defend that title once again this year. =]
ReplyDeleteK.C
Disagree, yeah their are some lazy kids. but baseball and football has some young talent on the way. Plus, this years sophomores have been some of the hardest working kids in the weight room in a while. Granted, basketball is another story.
ReplyDeleteI will pick Riverview this year to win the Huron League. They will have the league MVP in Brad Stewart. Riverview will be very tall , fast, & athletic. The Pirates will out rebound everyone with the exception of Milan , who will be the biggest test I feel for Riverview this year.
ReplyDeleteAiport only has 8 on there roster now. due to the departuers of senior jake collert and the departure of first year player tom georgic.
ReplyDeletei bet you if spencer roecker would have man'd up and stayed they would be a lot better with those two not quiting, brandon lewis playing, kyle johnson playing, also others would have tried out like jodeci mays and zach behrik.
airport has scott mccormick as the starting pg... he is a freshmen
ReplyDeleteairport has 9, not 8
ReplyDeleteWhy dont u all stop worring about the people that arnt playing and worry about the ones who are.
ReplyDeleteSo is jefferson going to shut off the lights and have the very weak spotlights shine on the players before the game? I certainly hope not. I had camera difficulties before a game last year and I couldnt fix the camera because I couldnt see what I was doing! Jefferson just please be normal and introduce the players with the lights ON. Thank you!..........Anyways how bout them Airport Jets?
ReplyDeletehow bout them?
ReplyDeleteHow bout them?! COME ON DOOOOOOOOOOD, Airport has a lack of D-E-P-T-H. Whats up with that? That is not cool, not cool. Kyle Johnson isnt playing basketball, that is definetly not cool. Johnson had alot of potential, the kid is tall, he could have been something. I am very disappointed he quit. I am also very disapointed that Jake Collert quit. What is up with that?!. Jake Collert is the son of the legendary basketball player Chuck Collert. And for Jake to quit is a shame. Marino is going to have his hands full this year but at least he has Davaun Posey whose rebounding skills remind me of none other than the legendary DENNIS RODMAN. Even with the lack of depth problems I think Airport should have a decent season, however I feel that the two top teams in the league this year will be Milan. There bald coach(I dont know his name sorry) seems to be a quality coach, he is giving the Milan kids a sense of DIRECTION. And you also cant count out HURON. They had a fine season last year and even without Stockert and Caleb Tavtigian and Z Rich, they should do alright. Especially since Big Jim Kalbfleisch is still leading the team. The Huron league will be interesting this year. I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. Chris this post took me like an hour to write, can you please accept this comment, I didnt say anything bad about anybody.
ReplyDeleteChris, what was wrong with my last post? Why didnt u accept it? I didnt say anything wrong. I even gave props to your Huron Chiefs. What is going on mane.
ReplyDeleteDude Chris, you have to check this out. I think its hilarious. I dont think Kalbfleisch lets this happen in his gym class, read the first post. lol.http://www.ratemyteachers.com/kalbfleisc/972364-t
ReplyDeleteDont delete this I wanna everybody to see this. If what that one comment says really does happen, than Jim Kalbfleisch has my ultimate respect. He is old school. I love it
ur right it is a shame kyle johnson isnt playing. the kid was going to be a heak of a player for the jets this year with his siz and his ability to get deep in the post and put the ball in the rim with great moves.
ReplyDeletei have heard that kyle Johnson talked to mr. marino about allowing him to join the squad. If so thats abig plus for the jets
ReplyDelete^^^^NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
ReplyDeletenot true at all.!!
thats what i heard also
ReplyDeleteriverview should win the league. Milan will be another miami heat, disfunctional. And CC always shows up, GI has some talent but doesnt care much for basketball. Jefferson, worst team in the league by far. Flat rock lacks depth but has some talent in there guard play. Thats basically it.
ReplyDeletedude KJ and Jake Collert better rejoin the squad, or Airport is in big trouble. I dont understand why collert would quit. He would have gotten some good PT this year. And with Fidler gone, this would have been KJ's year to shine. He would have blossomed into a very fine post player. What a dissapointment his quitting is. I am very ashamed that he made this poor decision. Anyways, how bout kalbys record? very nice indeed, he starting to build a dynasty over there at ol Huron High!
ReplyDeleteIf "KJ" is kyle johnson then. Yes he would have developed into a good post player for the jets. the jets are starting 5 players that have little to no exsperience at all with devaun posey being the only one that got significant playing time. Last year "kj" got some good minutes toward the end of the season and showed a lot of potential for a potent senior year. but the decision (bad desision) he made to not play will affect the jets a great deal cuz now besides posey they have 4 other players that have VERY little varsity playing time. actually the only other person on the jets i can name is the mccormick kid. thats by no means good.
ReplyDeletegood luck jets you may be in for a long one.
I heard FR put it on your academy team Chris ? What's your thoughts on Flat Rock this year ?
ReplyDeleteWhat does put it on mean?:)
ReplyDeleteI thought FR handled our pressure very well. They did an excellent job of distributing the ball and not over dribbling.
They rebounded well too. Cottingim, Blosser, Chickeral and Theisen all played well.
Obviously pretty early for me and my team. I have just learned everyone's name but I think we'll have a nice team. I wouldn't trade my talent for any in the Huron League.:)
sooo if duffin transfered you wouldnt take him on ur team? :)
ReplyDeleteThat's not what I meant. I would keep all my kids instead of all the kids from any other team in the Huron League. With that said, I would not trade my best player for Duffin. Would I take him if he transferred? Absolutely but only if he met our 2.5 GPA requirement.
ReplyDeleteHuron just dominated the league the past 2 seasons winning back 2 back league and district titles and only 1 league loss during that 2 year run with mostly home grown players!! I don't see another team matching that. The league should be a 3 team race between Milan, Huron, and riverview. a lot of players are hyped up especially Milan players lol if there as good as advertised... they wouldn't be transferring to Milan to play basketball!! well see what happends....
ReplyDeleteI have to say at first I was excited to see a blog about huron league basketball and was prepared to see a little trash talking, but not sure if ill be coming back. To call kids (let's not forget these are kids) out by name and attacking programs and calling them cheats with no proof is absurd. Show some pride and respect in your own programs to keep your comments subjective and positive. Tell others why your program is doing well or not instead of taking uneducated guesses as to how another program must be cheating. I am hoping you all know Milan is a school of choice district and understand there are at least 500 other non athletic students choosing Milan based on their education and technology. Ypsi schools are in shambles right now and may very well cease to exist after this year, that plays a large part in those students choosing milan. With all that said I do understand the passion you may have for your school as I do mine and would prefer to see this kind of trash talk...Milan wins the league with only two tests @ riverview and @ new boston! Hope this blog comes around and I hope Chris from now on any negative post with a kids name in it you would consider not allowing it. Thanks and go Big Reds!
