Readers, please free to list any players you feel will make an impact in their first year on varsity. This may be any JV players who are moving up or any transfers that may have made the switch to a Huron League school.
Also, are their any freshman who will play varsity this year? If so, please list them and their credentials.
When I watched my son play at the woodhaven league I saw two sophmores from FR play good. One was a gaurd who had agood pullup and the other a kid who played wing, post, and gaurded that Kowalski kid, he only scored 6 points on a 5'10 sophmore.
ReplyDeleteTJ
Forward from Milan, hes about 6'2 er 3
ReplyDeletehe played pretty good, doesnt drive to the basket much tho.
Alex Kish from GI
ReplyDeleteWho will also replace Dex on the football field
: D
Proud GI
the two mikes from FR i think thats what hes talkin about
ReplyDeleteKISH WILL NOT REPLACE DEX TEEN
ReplyDeleteI agree - Kish will not replace Teen on court or field - two totally separate style athletes.
ReplyDeleteKish??? He is a football player, not a basketball player. A nice sleeper for GI is JR Mike Matulonis. He is a long guard who can shoot the 3. He was the leading scorer on the JV team and he had a nice summer for GI.
ReplyDeleteI saw that 6'2 er 3 kid from Milan destroy Chelsea at U of M Team camp. He runs the point and wears goggles. I think he had a tripple-double.
ReplyDeleteI believe you are referring to CJ Turnage. He was the PG for Milan last year as a freshman.
ReplyDeleteThis kid was not on Milan's team last year. I found out he is a transfer from Lincoln HS. CJ doesn't wear goggles and CJ played Forward at the U of M Team camp.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry but you can't put Kish and Teen in the same sentence yet...Maybe one day, but to say that he can replace an all league player in all three sports is just ridiculous, I'm sorry but it is.
ReplyDeleteDo you really think matulonis will be good at the varsity level, because varsity is different than jv
ReplyDeleteI agree with....

This is true - HOWEVER.... Teen has two years on Kish...Kish may not ever be as good at the hoops as Teen but I'm going to put money that he will be equal to Teen on the turf.
I also seen a sophmore from FR that hustles more than any kid on the court, it seems like they are going to be flat Rock's BIG THREE,I think his name is collin knock, he plays point. I heard he will play varsity this bball season too. I know he scored 36 against Ida last season. Sounds like fr has a couple of good years ahead from these 3 young men.
ReplyDeleteMichael Chickeral, Michael Blosser from Flat Rock are going to be a dynamic duo in FR. Expect good things from them!
ReplyDeleteI think Matulonis will be good on the Varsity level. He won't have a lot of pressure on him this season with Sassack and White getting most of the attention. Varsity is different than JV, but this post is about guys coming up from the JV, or who have transferred, that can make an impact on the Varsity level. He is my pick as a sleeper for GI.
ReplyDeleteReally "Big 3" from Flat Rock? Really? That's funny. Flat Rock won't even contend for the Huron League Title no one cares!
ReplyDeleteAgree with GI sleeper Mike Matulonis. Another for GI is Jamie Tobin.
ReplyDeleteduffin & cj best combo in league next year
ReplyDeleteThe sleeper from Grosse Ile is Tobin. The number # in pts.... Take a look at... http://www.highschoolsports.net/teams/teamStats.cfm?schoolid=MI481388909&division=1&lvl=2&spt=2&teamyear=2009-2010
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Tobin. He is the type of player who will struggle with the speed of the Varsity game as a Junior. He will be a nice player off the bench this season, but he won't make his mark on the Varsity team until he is a Senior.

LOL!!! Yet Flat Rock lost. I was there as well and Kowalski only played almost 2 quaters and sat the rest of the game. Riverview played the 2nd half with just one of their starters and the rest were players who will most likely be non starters. Also a side note Riverview did not have all of their starters there for that game due to other committments.
I can't wait for the regular season and see how many points Kowalski or Haube (both of them are 6'5"++) put in on a way undersized Flat Rock team.
scott mccormick from airport
ReplyDeleteRiverview's Chris Krach will be the best coming up from the JV team. He provides speed and is very aggressive. With his height it will be easy for him to drive the lane effectively, and grab important boards. His ball handeling will come with time.
ReplyDeleteJulian Robinson. Duffin's cousin. Transfer from Ypsilanti High School. 5'7 pg. The guy in th goggles yu were referring to from Lincoln is Jiles Neely. Cj needs to develop a shot and become quicker. with the 2 transfers i see cj moving to th forward spot.
ReplyDeleteHow many transfers does that make that for Milan 5 or 6
ReplyDeleteFive. This is going to make Milan a powerhouse. Jiles Cj Andre & Julian all play aau together.
ReplyDeleteI believe the two teams this year will be Milan and NBH
ReplyDeleteI HAVE AN QUESTION. IS MILAN REALLY GOING TO PLAY IN THE SEC?
ReplyDeleteMilan has a center 6'6 from lincoln. Milan is going to kill
ReplyDeleteMilan has a guy named caleb baldwin who is 6'4...dude hes a beast and i heard he doesnt even start. Thats how you know they'll have talent this yr.
ReplyDeletewith the combination of Chris Krachs aggressiveness Luke tobler's shot and Will borieo's lock down defense Riverview will have 3 really good upcomig JV players to give the seniors a rest
ReplyDeleteWOW. 6'6 AND 6'4 BIGS? THEN A BACKCOURT OF RETURING VARSITY STARS DUFFIN TURNAGE PLUS NEELY AND ROBINSON? FORGET NBH. MILAN WILL BE MY FAVORITE NOW.
ReplyDeleteWhoever put this commentV
ReplyDeleteMilan has a guy named caleb baldwin who is 6'4...dude hes a beast and i heard he doesnt even start. Thats how you know they'll have talent this yr.
That doesn't mean they're going to be good? You could be 6'4 and suck..
Honestly I think Riverview will nt be able to stop Milan in an halfcourt set. Especially if Riverview is playing man to man
ReplyDeletewith the combination of Chris Krachs aggressiveness Luke tobler's shot and Will borieo's lock down defense????
ReplyDeleteWHO WILL BE ABLE TO STOP ANDRE DUFFIN? BORIEO WONT. JUST LOOK AT LAST YEAR WHAT HE DID AS AN SOPHOMORE. THEN YU ADD A SPEEDY ROBINSON? COMBINED WITH TURNAGE IN THE BACKCOURT PLUS 6'5 BIGS? RIVERVIEW WONT STAND A CHANCE. RIVERVIEW SENIORS BETTER BRING THERE A GAME. MILAN JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES ARE GOING TO DO AMAZING THINGS THIS YEAR.
Heck yeah ypsi/ ypsi lincoln players are gonna be awesome oops I mean milan players
ReplyDeleteyup yu better believe it!
ReplyDeleteMilan Sophomore Andre Duffin decided to take over and scored 17 of his game high 31 points in the 4th. The sweet shooting youngster hit five three's in the game and had two dunks while leading the Big Reds. He also held scarton to 16. Imagine what he has in stored for next year.
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah ypsi/ypsi lincoln players are gonna be awesome oops I mean milan players
ReplyDelete^that just about made me laughhh for 5 minutes straight:) Milan might as well rename themselves Ypsi:p
I think it's funny how you call out Borieo because he's probably someone whos decent that will on the bench.. Riverview has Brad Stewart that'll actually give "All Mighty Andre of Milan" a challenge. Riverview has two bigs also. One 6'5 and the other 6'6.
I'm from Riverview and I think SMCC and Huron can both take Milan on. Ha. So don't get so cocky Milan. The season hasn't even started yet. ANYTHING can happen. Expect some upsets.
A challenge? So if i scored 21 points on you... you would say "at least i gave him a challenge?"
ReplyDeleteget outta here. just wait and see. milan will beat riverview with ease.
That made no sense at all, and secondly we split games with you guys last year. Again the season hasn't even started yet so you can chill out there bud. I'm pretty sure you guys were doing really really good last year and dropped out of no where and lost to teams like GI.
ReplyDeleteRiverview 14-7-0
Milan 11-12-0
That's a pretty huge difference to me..
but comments on this thing mean nothing it's how you play on the court and how consistent you can be. Can't wait for the season to finally get started.
Well theres a fall league the teams will be playing in. We will see a preview then.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if any other league teams will be playing in the fall league? Milan will be playing brighton and Chelsea this sunday.
ReplyDeleteHey chris milan plays at 2 tomorrow. hope yu can make it.
ReplyDeleteIts at brighton high school.
ReplyDeleteI plan on watching the Lions tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up though.
ReplyDeleteHey guys i went to the game and was a pretty exciting matchup between Milan and Brighton the first game. Milan won 65-56. Starters were Cj Turnage, Andre Duffin, Jiles Neely, Caleb Baldwin, and Austin Elam. It was close at halftime. 42-38 Brighton. 6th man was Julian Robinson. It was pretty exciting watching milan going fullcourt man to man. Robinson got back to back steals. One lead to an alley oop to Turnage. Milan setteled into a 2-3 zone robinson got another steal which lead to an alley oop to duffin. It seemed the teams offense was more uptempo when robinson was at the point. He really pushed the ball and gave milan sum good buckets. Top scorers: Andre Duffin 18 Jiles Neely 14 Turnage 12 and Robinson 10 with 7 assists.
ReplyDeleteHey do these go on their career stats and people were actually keeping assist stats in a fall league where most players can't play because they are playing football. But I agree Milan ypsi-ypsi lincoln may be the greatest team ever assembled this year. And people thought the miami heat adding bosh and james the moves don't compare to milans signings
ReplyDeleteOnly two people milan has is neely and robinson. just shutup and stop making a big deal. they cant help it if they moved down there. ur just upset because theres gnna be talent this year.
ReplyDeleteI was at Riverview, GI, and SMCC last week and I didn't see their district trophies from last year. Where did they put them?
ReplyDeleteSame thing at milan. they must be polishing the trophies.
ReplyDeleteMilan vs Pioneer at 5 tomorrow. im guessing pioneer by 9. 61-52... milan vs tecumseh milan by 12 52-40
ReplyDeleteAre we really comparing NBA teams to Little High School teams? Now that's funny.
ReplyDeleteMilan beat Brighton and South Lyon yesterday. They play Pioneer next week. Pioneer didn't look good. Milan played full court man 2 man both games.
ReplyDeleteAre the coaches and schools really that bad in Ypsi? Milan is basically an AAU team, how many of their starters are actually from Milan? Karma will be the reason that they don't win the league this year. What they are doing is unethical and a disgrace to the Huron League.
ReplyDeleteypsi education has fell to the worst academic school along with others like lincoln and willow run. some coaches are getting fired. so ig players want to leave now.
ReplyDeleteDUFFIN HAS TRANSFERRED TO YPSI, TURNAGE HAS TRANSFERRED TO YPSI, ROBINSON HAS TRANSFERRED TO YPSI!
ReplyDeletethe two most underated schools milan and riverview will do big things this year. im looking forward to seeing central michigans newest recruit Andre Duffin and westerns recruit Cj Turnage have an great junior and sophomore season
ReplyDelete
