Woodhaven Summer League

I had a chance today to get out and see Flat Rock, Jefferson and Huron today at the Woodhaven Summer League.

Jefferson seemed to be getting comfortable with 2nd year head coach Jon Scharf. The Bears looked like they were missing a few bodies but were led by the athletic Jacob Sterling. Sterling knocked down a handful of shots while running the offense for Jefferson.

Flat Rock was led by senior Tim Cottongim. He seeemed to get open looks and get to the basket numerous times. Senior Rashard Wade looked solid at times especially when attacking the basket.

Huron looks as if they will be a solid team again this season. The Chiefs handled Woodhaven with ease and slipped by a big physical Annapolis squad by one. Huron was led by guards Jesse Wint and Nick Corbiel.

  2. My view of the Woodhaven Summer League.

Huron - Will challenge Riverview for the league title, but will probably come up just short. Good guard play and look to be physical.

Flat Rock - They will struggle unless they learn how to play D.

Grosse Ile - When they are making shots, they will be tough. Guards look solid, but they are very small.

Airport - Decent size for the HL, but they don't have the guard play to compete.

Jefferson - Hard to make a prediction because they didn't have many returners show up. Coach Scharf will demand defense, but they are very limited on the offensive end.

    League Finish
    1. Riverview
    2. Huron
    3. Milan
    4. SMCC
    5. GI
    6. Flat Rock
    7. Airport
    8. Jefferson

  3. Flat Rock has some good potential. You have Blosser and Chickeral coming up to help run the point. And you have Cottongim, a returning starter to lead the team. You have Theisen, who has more talent than he knows, but it's a waste. He needs to watch his attitude, or he won't be seeing much of the court.
