June Basketball Predictions

Well it is the end of June and I thought I would throw out my order of finish based on what I have seen in summer ball thus far. It looks as if most of the teams are done for the summer. I do believe that Milan and Riverview are still competing over at the Romulus Summer League.

1)Riverview
2)Milan
3)Huron
4)SMCC
5)Grosse Ile
6)Flat Rock
7)Jefferson
8)Airport

This should give us a little something to chew on.

  1. I agree 100% with these picks right now. Good job! Just a question, have you seen every team play this summer or no?

  7. Chris,
After watching numerous summer league games, I would have to say your prediction seems to be right on!

I have not seen Airport, SMCC, or Jefferson play at all this summer, but have caught games from the rest of the teams in the Huron League this summer. Many teams are playing without their starting five due to other commitments and the like, yet I like what I see from the Huron League so far.

    1. Riverview- You will have to have an excellent night shooting from outside to beat them. They will crash the boards and will limit teams to one shot and then run you to death the other way. Lots of size and an one of the best backcourts in the league. I have yet to see a game with their starting five all together on the court at the same time this summer, but know enough that The Pirates have the best combination of size and ball handlers to give the rest of the Huron League fits this upcoming season.
    2. Milan- I really liked what I seen from Milan so far. A lot depends on their outside shooting. They are athletic and fast, but do not have the size that Riverview has. I watched a few of their games and I know a few key players were not playing, yet teams will only have to key on the mentioned missing one or two players and should have no problem playing a combo of zone and man to man against them.
    3. Huron- A talented backcourt, yet a lack of size. Will have to depend on their backcourt players to get it done, which against the rest of the teams I have ranked below them should be no problem.
    4. SMCC- I have not seen them play at all this summer, yet knowing SMCC they will put out a tough team as usual.
    5. Grosse Ile- I've seen GI play a couple of games so far and they are improving with every game. They lack some size , yet have the ability to hit the outside shots when needed. Could suprise alot of teams this year and may end up the season ahead of SMCC.
    6. Flat Rock- I also watched Flat Rock play 3 games this summer. They are quick and athletic, yet young, and that will cost them some wins this year. They can run with most of the teams in the league and are still a year or two away from cracking the top of the league.
    7. Airport- I have not seen the Jets play at all this summer. I do know they have a little bit of height, yet I feel that they lack the speed needed to keep up with the rest of the league.
    8. Jefferson- Another team I have not seen play this summer. The Bears were a senior heavy team last year and it is my opinion that there really are not any under classmen to help pick up this team. Although I may be wrong.

  8. I care, if you can't even spell the word defense, you shouldn't be writing anything about basketball. Get off of your computer and read a book.

  12. Milan #1...you all just have to understand the amount of talent they have, and caoaching from Tropea. Their starting 5 is 6'3 , 6'3, 6'3, 6'4 and 6'6 and they are all athletic. It's no doubt that milan will dominate. The other teams are just not capable of defeating them. BTW the whole starting 5 can dunk.

  13. Riverview will definitely be the top team competeing with Milan. With Brad Stewart and then height with Mike Kowalski and Zach Haube they will be unbeatable.
