  1. Grosse Ile and Jefferson ahead of Airport.

  2. The thing about Airport is that they lose all of their top players to graduation. They will have Posey back however. We'll have to see how they do without them. GI had a couple of Sophs on Varsity last year I think and their JV was tough. Had a good record I believe and gave Huron's JV their only loss of the season. We will have to see how it plays out.

  3. 1. Riverview 2. Milan either could be #1 <=
    3. Airport (Posey?)
    4. GI (some young talent coming up from JV)
    5. Huron (point-guard situation, and height?)
    6. SMCC (will that sceinaver kid be good on Varsity?)
    7. Jefferson (?) 8. Flat Rock (?)=> time to rebuild team.

  4. 1. Riverview - Stewart will win games from the line
    2. SMCC - Senior leadership, Schinavarre, Wilson, Harras, Brown, Applin, McShane
    3. Huron - too big a loss to graduation
    4. GI - untested
    5. Airport - Graduation losses too
    6. Flat Rock - Replace Scarton? Not easy
    7. Jefferson - Still rebuilding

  5. Anonymous...there is no Shinevarre coming up to varsity from JV at SMCC. There is already a Shinevarre on varsity, Edmond, he's a junior this going to be a Senior and he had a good season. Here is my pick:

    1.Riverview
    2.Milan
    3.Huron
    4.SMCC
    5.GI
    6.Jefferson
    7.Airport
    8.Flat Rock

You could probably switch a few teams here and there but those are my thoughts and my opinion. I strongly believe that Riverview is the team to beat because they return all of their top players.

  6. Former Monroe High boys coach Ryan Marino is the new boys basketball coach at Airport. It's in the Monroe Evening News today.

  8. I posted it in another thread but here it is again!

    My picks for next year:

    HL MVP ; Brad Stewart

    1. Riverview - They are gonna be fast and run against teams. Lots of size as well. Kowalski and Haube should limit teams to 1 shot with solid rebounding. Then there is Stewart, enough said. Teams will be forced to shoot from the outside and they can hit the 3's as well, with Turner and Fasca. Solid line-up from top to bottom, with a very good bench. The Bucs will only be losing 3 players to graduation from the 2009-2010 squad.(13-1)

    2. Milan- Another fast team, they could give Riverview a hard time, but a lack of size is cause for concern. (Sorry, I do not have any info for any Milan players, but I know they will be good from video footage of their games.) (11-3)

    3. Airport- A good shooting team. Not as fast as Milan and Riverview, but could pose problems for them with their 3 shooting. Davoun Posey will lead the Jets. (9-5)

    4. SMCC- Another team that shoots well from the perimeter. Alot depends on the upcoming class of players. Can Shinavarre make an impact?Edmonds ??(8-6)

    5. Huron- Too many holes to plug from a senior heavy 2009-2010 squad, yet still good enough to beat the rest of the league on any given night. Nick Corbeil and Jesse Wint should standout for the Chiefs. (7-7)

    6. Grosse Ile- 2nd year coach should have his team next year. Athletic and some shooters. Tim Sassack , Josh Gaudette , and Rob White should all contribute.(6-8)

    7. Jefferson- Another young team. Could be a long year for them. Lack of size and speed. Jake Sterling and Dustin Carmack should lead the Bears.(3-11)

    8. Flat Rock- Afraid the cupboard is bare here. Tim Cottongim will have his hands full trying to lead the Rams next year. (1-13)

One could probably flip flop 3 & 4. But you never know, there are too many intagiables. Teams could suffer from injuries and players not making the grades.

Good Luck to all of the Huron League Teams for the 2010-2011 Season.

  10. Airport has no good shooters besides Dave McCormick. The JV had awful shooters as did alot of the Juniors on the team. I say fifth place is a proper spot for the JETS BABY!

    ReplyDelete
  11. your correct. dave mccormick was the only good shooter. but if the guards get the ball down low to either devaun posey or kyle johnson they WILL score the basketball.
